About Us

Working for an airline for nearly 25 years, I naturally spent loads of time in airports. I was always surprised that the products on sale in the airport shops did not reflect the quality of products that I had seen during my travels. When I came to work at Edinburgh Airport I wanted to change that and opened Liquorice Tree in 2007 to bring people a collection of beautiful products made by Scottish artists, designers and manufacturers.

Due to the overwhelming success of our Edinburgh airport shop, Glasgow Liquorice Tree was established in the summer of 2013 and was nominated for an award for the best independent gift shop in 2014. Located next to Kelvinbridge subway on Great Western Road. Glasgow Liquorice Tree brings a gorgeous collection of gifts for everyone. Inspired by the trendy west end of Glasgow, Liquorice tree offers a wonderful selection of gifts and stylish treats. Beautiful jewellery collections include the popular Joma Jewellery a little bracelets and necklaces, Kaytie Wu and SNO of Sweden jewellery. As well as jewellery Glasgow Liquorice Tree also offers a charming selection of home gifts including Stoneglow and Marmalade candles.

We have recently relaunched our website and hope to bring together our gifts from both our stores and make them available to everyone online. Our website is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our Scottish gifts from Edinburgh alongside our new exciting gifts for everyone from our Glasgow gift shop.

You will see many products that are not mass produced, the number being limited by the time an individual craftsman has to make them. So expect to see unusual pieces come and go - replaced by exciting new ones. We also recognise that some customers may want more 'traditional' Scottish items so we have recently supplemented our craft pieces with a wide selection of Scottish products from manufacturers who are proud of the quality of their traditional products.

Sometimes when we are scouring the country for beautiful things to bring you, we find products that aren't made in Scotland. We know you won't get too annoyed when you see gorgeous items from companies such as Lulu Guinness, Orelia Jewellery, Kit Heath Jewellery and Powder to name just a few. We just couldn't stop at beautiful Scottish things so our product range is growing and growing.

Just in case you were wondering, the name Liquorice Tree comes from the stunning centerpiece in our shop at Edinburgh Airport where we hang the latest 'must have' scarf, bag or tie.

Liquorice Tree's mission is to make shopping with us - no matter what the occasion or circumstance - simple and inspired.

We hope you like our products and would always appreciate your feedback and any suggestions for products you would like to see us source.

Enjoy your shopping!
